The Task
ATXLoves was a 30 day initiative granted to lookthinkmake by Visit Austin. They tasked us with getting tourists to shop and eat local when visiting our city.

What We Did
If Austin is weird, then the way we think about our local businesses is a little weird, too. We created a resource called ATXloves.com for tourists to re-frame the way they categorize and choose their local experiences. Instead of typical categories tourists might check to find their way around, we grouped our businesses in some unusual ways.
Winner: Austin Addy for local campaign
Categories
All of our quirky categories were made up of businesses that had already appeared on “Best of Austin” lists from local publications, so they were truly city favorites.
Partners
We reached out to community leaders and influencers, calling on them to share their local favorites. They took up the cause, sharing the site on their social platforms. We got lists from Outdoor Voices, Nick Simonite, Jane Koko, Kendra Scott, and more.
We sent businesses a letter and window sticker to let them know they were being featured on the site.
Mom & Pops
We interviewed local business owners, took their portraits, and shared their stories on our site and social channels.
